TUGUEGARAO CITY – Cagayan’s provincial government envisions an economic cooperation with  progressive countries in Northeast Asia to boost the province’s tourism and investment potentials.

In a press conference for the 435th Aggao Nac Cagayan activities over the weekend, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba said such cooperation would highlight the bountiful treasures of the province and make it worthy to become a key player in economic activities in the northeast Asian region.

“The activities for our foundation day celebration will all focus on how we can further enhance and package our potentials to prepare our province towards our vision of linking with the economic giants in the north,” Mamba said.

The festivities, to be held on June 23-29, will feature Cagayan’s agricultural products and technology, culture and tourism products, art competitions, skills and talent exhibitions, culinary presentations, and local products, which the governor said, have great potentials for trade and export with developed countries.

During the press conference, provincial information officer Rogelio Sending, noted that as the country integrates its potentials with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the province would also try its best to link with northeastern nations through its "Cagayan Looking Northward" program.

Sending said they are eyeing possible investment opportunities with  developed countries by promoting Cagayan’s rich culture, heritage, traditions, tourism, agriculture and investment offerings.

“Cagayan is now gearing for a new journey. I believe that our neighbors in the north can have a big impact in our economic development and as such, I feel that we need to look northward from where we are,” Sending added.

Northeast Asia covers China, Japan, Mongolia, North Korea, and South Korea. (PNA)
