SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan — The provincial hospital here will acquire new X-ray machines, following the approval on Monday by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of a resolution authorizing Governor Amado Espino III to enter into a memorandum of agreement with Patient Care Corporation, a supplier of radiology equipment and application systems.

Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, the sponsor of the resolution during the SP session, said the new machines are needed to further enhance health care services to the people, especially the poor in the province.

“With all the efforts of our provincial government, the trust of the people to the 14 hospitals run by the provincial government is already returning,” he added.

The units for acquisition are: one Ascend X-ray with digital detector; one unit vitaflex 45 computed radiography; one unit portable X-ray machine; and one unit dryer 5950 model laser image printer among others, said Rosario.

Rosario, in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA), said the provincial government will pay the company PHP291,066.67 monthly for five years.

“It is self- liquidating payables since the cost will be charged to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation through the patients. Our chief of hospital even said that with three to four patients daily, this amount can be paid,” Rosario said.

He further said that there were other companies that submitted their proposals but the chief of hospitals and other provincial government authorities chose Patient Care Corporation because it offered a trusted brand, which has lower downtime compared to the former brand the hospital used, among other reasons.

“The brand PPH uses right now is a China-made brand and there was a lot of downtime, whereas Patient Care offered Carestream brand that is a US-made brand used by other known hospitals like St. Lukes,” Rosario said.

Marcos Manalo, salesman of Patient Care Corporation, told the members of SP that the company assures additional five years warranty in addition to the machines’ contract warranty.

He added that the new X-ray can accommodate up to 4,000 patients daily.

Rosario said the company will also be in charge of the provision, installation, operation and maintenance of radiology equipment and application systems. (PNA)
