Iloilo stays unbeaten at home, romps Marikina behind Mendy hat trick

MANILA -- Kaya Iloilo downed JPV Marikina, 4-2, in the first game of the Philippines Football League doubleheader at the Iloilo Sports Complex in Iloilo City on Wednesday night.

Iloilo took advantage of a lethargic start by Marikina that even saw the latter giving up an own goal two minutes in as Robert Mendy quickly made it 3-0 with a brace after 18 minutes.

J Baguioro finally netted one for Marikina in the 62nd minute after heading the ball in past Ref Cuaresma.

However, Mendy put the icing on the cake for Iloilo with a 72nd minute goal that completed his hat trick.

Keigo Moriyasu scored the other Marikina goal in the 80th minute for the final tally.

Iloilo remains in second with 29 points after 15 matches.

Marikina, on the other hand, stays in fifth place with 13 points after 16 games. (PNA)
