MANILA -- Four flights between Manila and Denpasar, the capital city of Bali, Indonesia were cancelled as of Friday afternoon due to volcanic activity at Mount Agung, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) reported Friday.

These flights were Cebu Pacific (5J) 279 Manila-Denpasar, 5J 280 Denpasar-Manila, Air Asia (Z2) 2232 Denpasar-Manila and Philippines Airlines (PR) 537 Manila-Denpasar.

Based on reports, Bali's Mount Agung's crater began erupting on Thursday, forcing people living along the volcano's foot to flee their homes.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled as the Depansar Airport was closed. On Friday, Mount Agung reportedly spurted an 8,200-feet column of ash and smoke.

The airport resumed its operations on Friday afternoon. (PNA)
