TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Consumers in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon provinces) will now have an alternative channel for quick remedy to their consumer complaints and other consumer-related questions and concerns via social media.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Region IV-A recently created a dedicated Facebook (FB) page named 'DTI 4-A Consumer Protection and Welfare', which is managed by its Consumer Protection Division (CPD).

DTI IV-A CPD Chief Felizardo Cupit said Tuesday that the regional initiative “will also help in scheduling mediation conference as needed and a repository of helpful tips for consumers".

As the primary regulatory arm of the government concerning the country's trade, industry and investment activities, the DTI passionately pursues its mission and mandate through a comprehensive industrial growth strategy, progressive and socially responsible programs and policies, which were designed for the expansion and diversification of trade and consumer protection and empowerment.

The newly-established Calabarzon FB page for consumer protection and welfare uses characters such as Kuya Carl and Manong Justin as it imparts across consumer their rights and DTI’s policies for the protection of consumers like the ‘no return, no exchange’ policy, product quality and safety, the purpose of price tags, among others.

Although it welcomes all commentary and discussions, the FB page administrators encourage and appreciate supportive comments, constructive criticisms and airing of grievances.

The public is reminded, too, of its right to pre-moderate and delete comments and messages to protect the page from spam, advertisement, use of foul/abusive/off-topic or ad hominem content, as well as to filter and archive all correspondence addressed to its office.

Aside from the social media page, consumers may call the DTI head office at telephone number (+632) 7510-DTI (384) or its contact center DTI Direct (+632) 751.-3330 for general queries and concerns.

The public may also search the particular office it wishes to reach through the DTI website.

The DTI 4-A Consumer Protection and Welfare feedback team works Mondays to Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except on regular holidays and special non-working days, to take consumer concerns. (PNA)
