BAGAC, Bataan -- A tourism project worth more than PHP1 billion will soon rise in this mountain town adjacent to the West Philippine Sea as groundbreaking took place Thursday.

Governor Albert Garcia, who graced the ceremony, expressed belief that Woodland Hills Manor will become the next favorite destination of both local and foreign tourists in the western side of Bataan.

“Bataan has many resorts, big and small. This project will surely be an additional tourist destination,” he said.

The governor thanked owners Ronald and Alice Grace del Rosario, whom he described as a power couple and their children as incorporators, for investing in their own town.

Bagac Vice Mayor Ron del Rosario is one of the children of the couple.

“This project will bring in more tourists and help uplift the lives of residents. It is a beautiful place overlooking the mountains and the ocean,” Garcia said.

The owners said they will highlight the sea, sunset and the mountains in their project.

Woodland Hills Manor will rise on a 30.20-hectare hill in the seaside village of Ibis in this town.

Luck-well Construction Development Corporation, its contractor, will start building the project that is expected to be finished in one and a half years.

The governor said he was excited on what will happen in the next 20 months.

The project will have two world-class tourist destinations – Woodland Hotel and Leisure and Woodland Mountain Adventure Park.

The three-storey hotel will have 57 guest rooms and nine suites, one of which will be a presidential suite.

Other amenities include a business center, function hall, game area, gym, restaurants, spa and pool.

“There will be a viewing deck for visitors to appreciate the natural beauty of Bataan and the West Philippine Sea,” the owners said.

The mountain adventure park, on the other hand, is an ecological park, which, the Del Rosario couple said, will cater to a variety of outdoor activities.

Woodland Hills Manor has contracted the services of Asian Grand Legacy Hotels Corp. for the management of Woodland Hotel and Leisure and Greenstrat, Inc. for the development and management of Woodland Mountain Adventure Park. (PNA)
