LOS BANOS -- In 1993, Indonesian Catherine Surya set the record for the girls U13 200-meter freestyle event in the Southeast Asia Age Group Swimming Championships at 2:07.83.

On Saturday, someone finally breached the said mark.

Kamonchanok Kwanmuang made history at the Trace Aquatic Center as she broke the 25-year-old record in the said race.

The Thai swimmer clocked in at 2:07.46, almost 0.4 second faster than Surya's record.

Thailand actually scored a 1-2 finish in the event as Jinjutha Pholjamjumrus took the silver at 2:11.78.

Vo Thi My Tien of Vietnam captured the bronze at 2:12.15.

Filipina tanker Athena Chang fell short of ending up at the podium as her 2:14.85 swim was only good for fourth place. (PNA)
