MANILA -- The lone scheduled Philippines Football League (PFL) game for Sunday between Global Cebu and Stallion Laguna has been called off.

A designated Cebu home game at the Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan, Stallion Laguna, which officially calls the pitch home, was the first to break the news.

"We have just been informed that Global will be defaulting their match today,” it said in a statement.

The league, through governing body Liga Futbol Inc., made the news official later Sunday, saying Global Cebu will not be able to play their scheduled match against Stallion Laguna “due to circumstantial reasons."

While the reason behind Cebu begging off is still unknown, word has reached the Philippine News Agency that it has something to do with the departure of main goalkeeper Patrick Deyto.

According to people knowledgeable of the situation, Deyto's departure left Cebu with only 12 men available for the match or basically with only one substitute.

The PFL will hand out its decision on the now cancelled match at a later date. (PNA)
