Start of voter registration in NCR nets almost 27K applicants

MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has received close to 27,000 applications during the first week of the continuing registration in Metro Manila for the May 2019 midterm polls.

In a statement Wednesday, the poll body reported that the turnout of the voter registration in the National Capital Region (NCR) from July 2 to 7, is at 26,856.

It noted that the applications received are for registration, transfer/transfer with reactivation, reactivation, change/correction of entry and reinstatement of records in the list of voters.

A totoal of 15,579 females and 11,277 males availed of the said voter registration services.

Caloocan City, 1st District received the highest number of applications with 1,518, followed by Makati City, 2ndDistrict with 1,442 and Pasay City, 2nd District with 1,223.

The resumption of the system of continuing registration will run until September 29.

Applications are accepted at the Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) nationwide, except Marawi City.

They are open from Mondays to Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including holidays. (PNA)
