TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The family of slain Trece Martires City Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan is hopeful that the discovery of an abandoned Black Toyota Hi Lux vehicle in Maragondown town at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday will finally lead the police to his brother’s killers.

In an interview with PNA on Wednesday, kristine Lubigan-Lucero said “magandang birthday gift to kay kuya (referring to the latest case update, the late vice mayor’s birthday falls today), at sana nga mag-lead na (ito) sa mabilisang paghuli at pag-identify sa talagang pumatay sa kanya.” (this is a great birthday gift to my brother and hopefully this will lead to the immediate capture and reveal the identities of his killers)

A black Toyota Hilux with no plate and no conduction sticker, a physical match of the vehicle used by Lubigan’s killers, was found by Maragondon’s Municipal Police abandoned on the Mabacao-Pantihan Bridge, Tulay B village of Maragondon town.

Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. William Segun rushed to the scene and when asked if he thinks the car is a match, “our regional scene of the crime operatives (SOCO) are still processing the vehicle, let’s just wait for the results before we confirm it.”

But Segun also shared that based on the description in the CCTV footages and other suspicious circumstantial evidence like erased chassis and engine numbers, and dump-riddled dashboard and transmission, “baka mag positive.” (it might be positive).

Lubigan and his driver Romulo Guillemer died on the spot after their black Toyota Hi-Lux with conduction sticker YV4077 was riddled with bullets by still unidentified suspects, who are on board a similar vehicle but bears no plate, nor conduction sticker in front of Korean-Philippines Friendship Hospital along Trece-Indang Roaad in Brgy Luciano in Trece Martires City at  2:53 p.m. on July 7.
