SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Antique provincial government, led by Governor Rhodora Cadiao, will provide financial assistance to victims of the storm surge in the municipality of Belison.

In an interview Monday, Cadiao said she has directed the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) to provide Aid to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to victims of calamity in Sitio Baybay, Barangay Poblacion of Belison.

“The provincial government will provide AICS to those with partially and totally damaged houses,”Cadiao said.

After receiving the report from Barangay Captain Christopher Piccio, Cadiao directed the PSWDO - through its administrative officer Noemi Tagle - to provide assistance to some 28 households that were affected by the storm surge.

“We immediately delivered rice to the victims,” Tagle said.

Tagle said that upon the governor’s order, the PSWDO will also provide PHP10,000 to those whose houses had been destroyed and PHP5,000 to those with partially damaged houses.

Assessment is still ongoing as of this posting.

Meanwhile, Cadiao warned residents to be extra careful of the southwest monsoon rains.

“Just be watchful especially at night when there is usually heavy downpour,” she said. (PNA)
