CEBU CITY -- Two police officers are now facing investigation for frequenting makeshift cock-fighting arenas in Cebu.

Police Regional Office - Central Visayas (PRO-7) director Chief Supt. Debold Sinas on Monday said they are now investigating SPO1 Felipe Alfeche and PO2 Jansen Caña, who were both seen inside two different cockpit arenas.

Sinas said the two officers’ presence in the gambling arenas was captured by surveillance camera.

Alfeche was seen in a makeshift cock-fighting arena in the City of Naga on June 29, while Caña was caught in a footage inside a cockpit on A. Lopez St. in Cebu City last June 23.

The PRO-7 chief said he will order the relief of the two officers since law enforcers are prohibited from entering any gambling establishment even if they are off-duty.

Alfeche and Caña were made to explain their presence in the cock-fighting arenas, pending the filing of administrative cases against them.

Sinas said the two officers can be charged with grave misconduct, which is enough ground for their dismissal from the service.

Meanwhile, Sinas said they welcome the probe by the National Bureau of Investigation and the Commission on Human Rights on the death of a pre-schooler during an anti-drug operation.

Four-year-old Bladen Skyler Abatayo was killed after being hit by a stray bullet during an operation conducted by Carbon Police Station’s Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Ermita here last Tuesday, July 10.

Sinas, however, said the sharing of files related to the case would need permission from Camp Crame. (PNA)
