ILOILO CITY -- The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is calling on interested Ilonggos to submit their proposals for culture and arts projects on or before the July 31, 2018 deadline.

Niño Selibio, NCCA Project Development Officer for the Arts Section, said Tuesday they have started the call as early as April this year. The call was given out early so the NCCA can determine the number of proposals and for them to get included in the 2019 budget.

“The call has been out since April. We are now on the last stretch of our dissemination,” he said.

The application is open to Filipino individuals, civil society organizations, indigenous people’s organizations, local government units, government agencies, state universities and colleges and public schools.

Selibio said the amount of approved projects in Iloilo for 2018 has increased compared to last year.

He said PHP2.375 million worth of project proposals got approved compared with only PHP795,500 in 2017. He added that approved proposals were a mixed of new and repeat proponents.

NCCA also received proposals from other provinces in the region.

“This means that many are aware of the grants program of the NCCA, many are interested to work in projects and activities related to culture and arts,” he added.

Selibio said in 2019, around PHP95 million fund is allotted for approved proposals. Each of the 19 committees of the NCCA is given PHP5 million.

He stressed though that proposals submitted after the deadline will no longer be considered.

Also, the proponent can only submit one project proposal.

Project briefs, guidelines and requirements can be viewed and downloaded at the NCCA website.  (PNA)
