Radio anchor shot dead in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY -- A radio anchorman was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen on Friday at his residence in Barangay (village) Peñafrancia, Daraga town in Albay.

PNP-Bicol spokesperson, Chief Inspector Maria Luisa Calubaquib, identified the victim as Joey Llana, 38, a broadcast anchor of radio station DWZR in this city.

Quoting initial police report, Calubaquib said Llana was driving out of his garage when attacked at around 4:45 a.m.

Calubaquib said the gunmen, armed with automatic firearms, shot Llana several times at close range. He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of the body.

The victim was reportedly on his way to the radio station for his morning radio program.

Llana is a radio commentator handling a block time public affairs program at radio station DWZR, which is operated by Hypersonic Broadcasting Network (HBN). (PNA)
