LICAB, Nueva Ecija — A 34-year-old farmer died of cobra bite in Barangay Santa Maria here Sunday afternoon.
Erwin Vicente, municipal social welfare and development officer, identified the fatality as Suterio Villa, Jr. , a resident of the said place.
He was the lone fatality in the flash flood in the locality, which continued to rise as of press time.
“The incident happened inside the victim’s house but the family was not able to bring him to hospital due to flood,” Vicente said.
Michelle Anne dela Pena, head of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said they were surprised the water suddenly rose on Sunday.
She advised the residents to be more vigilant as some areas are still under floodwater.
Last Saturday night, this municipality was placed under state of calamity due to inundation. (PNA)
