DUMAGUETE CITY - Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial director Senior Superintendent Raul Tacaca confirmed Monday that one of the suspects in the killing of broadcaster Edmund Sestoso was gunned down late Saturday afternoon in the town proper of La Libertad in northern Negros Oriental.

The fatality was identified as Richard Bustamante, also known as “Dondon”, 33 years old, single, a resident of Barangay Buenavista, Guihulngan City, which is adjacent to La Libertad, said Tacaca.

Bustamante was riding a motorcycle on his way to Guihulngan City from the cockpit in Cantupa, La Libertad with a back rider, when an unidentified riding in tandem shot him at close range, hitting him in different parts of the body which resulted in instantaneous death.

Bustamante's back rider was injured and was brought to a hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the suspects wore full-faced helmets and jackets.
