MANILA -- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts better weather for the next two days in Metro Manila.
"We will have better weather in the morning for the next two days, but will have rains in the afternoon and evening in Metro Manila," PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in a phone interview Wednesday afternoon.
He further said Mindoro, Palawan, and the Bicol region will have rains due to the southwest monsoon on Thursday and Friday.
In a weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said the tropical storm (TS), with international codename "Jongdari", would unlikely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Jongdari is moving north-northeast at 15 kilometers per hour and was last spotted 1,555 km east of Basco, Batanes.
The weather system is also packing maximum sustained winds of up to 70 km per hour and gustiness of up to 90 km per hour.
According to PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather bulletin on Wednesday, the southwest monsoon will prevail over western Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bataan, Zambales, northern Palawan, Mindoro provinces, and western Visayas.
The state weather bureau warned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate rains in these areas.
Metro Manila and the other parts of Luzon and Visayas will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers, and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon and the trough of TS Jongdari, which is outside the PAR.
PAGASA similarly warned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate rains in these areas.

The western section of Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao are forecast to have moderate coastal waters, while other areas will have slight to moderate seaboards.
PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-34 degrees Celsius across the country until Sunday.
On Wednesday, PAGASA recorded a peak temperature of 30.5 degree Celsius and a minimum temperature of 24.6 degree Celsius. (PNA)
