DUMAGUETE CITY – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Thursday gave awards and recognition to partner banks and private entities as part of its 25th anniversary celebration this year.

Dubbed the "Stakeholder’s Recognition Program", the event is now on its fifth year here, with the BSP Dumaguete Branch having conceptualized it at the local level and adopted at the national level, according to Nick Parco, the outgoing BSP Deputy Director of the local Bangko Sentral here.

Parco attributed the Stakeholder’s Recognition Program to Dr. Greg Baccay, who heads the Economic and Financial Learning Center of the BSP Dumaguete branch, saying the awards and recognition project was their way of giving back to the stakeholders, both banks, and non-banks, who have helped them achieve their objectives.

Parco, who is now on leave, was replaced by Deputy Director Joseph Norbert S. David, who assumed post last July 4. David was previously assigned as branch head of the BSP in San Fernando, Pampanga.

“We just have to continue our expression of gratitude to our stakeholders,” Parco, who has been the branch head for the past 20 years or so, said.

“We cannot continue doing our jobs without the cooperation of the community,” he added.

For his part, Deputy Director David thanked their partners for the positive collaboration, saying that this will help them achieve their “deliverables”.

“We are very grateful for the support you have extended us all these years,” David stressed.

The major awards and recipients included: the Least Discrepancy Category for banks that have the least number of discrepancies in cash deposits (Metrobank); Zero Fit-Note Deposit Category, awarded to bank (that strictly complied with the zero fit-note deposit policy of BSP (Development Bank of the Philippines, Land Bank of the Philippines, Bank of Commerce, Asia United Bank, Union Bank, and UCPB); Clean Note Deposit Category awarded to bank(s) that consistently segregated fir and unfit notes in bank’s cash deposits (RCBC);

The BSP Dumaguete branch also awarded the Outstanding Respondent for Customer Satisfaction Survey to PNB, as well as the Outstanding Partner in Implementing BSP Advocacy Programs to the City Government of Dumaguete, the Philippine National Police in Negros Oriental and the Dumaguete Police Station, the Bureau of Fire Protection, Lee Super Plaza, the Department of Education in the province of Siquijor (part of the BSP Dumaguete’s coverage area), the Dumaguete City’s rescue group, the Philippine Information Agency, and other media entities in print, radio, television and social media, and private establishments, among others.
