MANILA -- More than 100 officials and members of licensed recruitment agencies in the country on Monday expressed support to besieged Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

In a press conference, a total of 110 manpower companies signed the Manifesto of Support to the Labor chief who is facing corruption allegations by an official of private recruitment firm.

“We, the Officers and Members of various licensed recruitment and manpower agencies and recruitment industry associations in the hereby state and declare: That, we believe in the integrity and leadership of Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello; That, we have known Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello II as an approachable person who is ready to help, if request is meritorious,” part of the statement of support which they signed at the event in Manila.

“That, we have not known Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III to have received cash or gifts of any kind from any recruitment agency in exchange of favors,” they added.

The group also expressed support on the efforts of the government against corruption and bribery.

“That, we fully support President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in fighting corruption and bribery,” the manifesto said.

“That, we abhor corrupt practices, both in government and in the private sector,” the group added.

They also urged President Duterte to let Bello stay in his post for him to be able to continue implementing plans of the government in helping the Filipino workers in and out of the country.

“That, we pray that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte keep Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III in his post at the Department of Labor and Employment so he can continue his programs both for local and overseas labor,” the statement added. (PNA)
