MANILA -- The Philippine National Railways (PNR) has reopened its railway line traversing Caloocan City to Dela Rosa in Makati City after twenty years.

Starting Wednesday (August 1), the railway line will have trips on the following stations: 10th Avenue, 5th Avenue, Solis, Blumentritt, España, Sta. Mesa and Dela Rosa stations with operating hours from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Its minimum fare is set at PHP15.

“It will be the fastest and most cost-efficient means of transportation from Caloocan to Makati with running time of 37 minutes,” the PNR said in a statement.

The PNR will be fielding at least six trains with capacities ranging from 700 to 1,200 to handle an expected 10,000 passengers along the railway line.

The rail line will be utilized for commuters going from Caloocan to Makati and vice versa as the PNR pursues the construction of the North-South Commuter Line or the PNR North 1 connecting Tutuban to Malolos.

The Caloocan-Dela Rosa line was shut down during the late 90’s to early 2000’s for the construction of the Northrail project which was envisioned to connect Metro Manila to Malolos, Bulacan and Clark, Pampanga. (PNA)
