SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is aggressively campaigning for its “Group Enrollment” scheme to increase its coverage.

Junie Sabusap, who heads the PhilHealth in Antique, on Wednesday, said that to date PhilHealth has 576,048 members in the province.

“We have an enrollment rate of 95.43 percent because of the 576,048 members,” he said in an interview.

He said the province has 603,607 total population, which leaves them with 27,559 people who are not yet PhilHealth members.

PhilHealth has ongoing negotiations with local government units and national government agencies with offices in the province to include under the “Group Enrollment” scheme their non-regular personnel.

“Most of those who are not yet covered by PhilHealth belong to the informal sector,” he said.

He said those who belong to the informal sector are the job orders, project based workers, and even the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Sabusap said that as a result of their campaign for the Group Enrollment they have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the University of Antique last July 30 so it could enroll its around 200 non-regular personnel in the main campus in Sibalom and in Tibiao town.

“With the MOA, the UA administration will collect the PHP200 monthly payment of its non-regular employees and remit it quarterly to PhilHealth,”he said.

Sabusap added that anytime soon the Antique provincial government will also do the same for its 1,500 job orders. (PNA)
