MANILA -- The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs) within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Monday.

PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said two LPAs are within the PAR -- one located 1,285 km east of Aparri, Cagayan (near the Philippine Sea) and another located 545 km west of Subic, Zambales (within the West Philippine Sea).

The first is expected to become a tropical depression within the next 12-24 hours and will head outside the PAR. It will be named 'Karding'.

The other LPA, meanwhile, is forecast to turn into another tropical depression after Karding's exit.

Rojas added the weather bureau has not issued any gale warning in any part of the country, but cautions those who will head out west of Mindoro and Palawan due to the LPA and the southwest monsoon.

Monsoon rains with cloudy skies and thunderstorms will prevail over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, MIMAROPA, western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and ARMM, according to PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather bulletin.

The weather bureau warned of possible flooding and landslides due to scattered rains and thunderstorms in these areas within the next 24 hours.

Metro Manila, Bicol region, rest of Calabarzon, central Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

PAGASA also warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rains or thunderstorms. Other parts of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers brought by local thunderstorms. It further warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to occasionally heavy rain showers in these areas.

Moderate to rough coastal waters are also forecast over the western sections of southern Luzon and Visayas, while Mindanao, the rest of southern Luzon and Visayas will have moderate seaboards.

Northern and central Luzon could also expect slight to moderate coastal waters.

PAGASA sees a temperature range of 15-34 degrees Celsius across the country until Friday.

On Monday, PAGASA recorded a peak temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 24.4 degrees Celsius. (PNA)
