MANILA -- Neil Etheridge pulled Cardiff away from dropping its Premier League home opener as he made a clutch save against Newcastle on Saturday at the Cardiff City Stadium in Wales' capital city.

With just seconds left in the match, the Filipino goalkeeper got a piece of Kenedy's penalty as both Cardiff and Newcastle settle for a goalless draw.

Newcastle got the late penalty chance when Yoshinori Muto's cross hit the arm of a sliding Sean Morrison.

However, Kenedy's low shot from nearly the center of the goal went straight to Etheridge as Newcastle failed to steal the road win despite playing with only 10 men following the red card issued on halftime substitute Isaac Hayden.

Etheridge became the second player to make a penalty in each of his first two games in the Premier League since the league was established in 1992.

In Leicester, the host squad tamed Wolverhampton, 2-0, but not without a price as star striker Jaime Vardy was sent off late into their match.

In the other matches, Everton subdued Southampton, 2-1, Tottenham downed Fulham, 3-1, Bourmemouth made it two wins in a row after a 3-1 victory at West Ham, and Chelsea stopped Arsenal's endgame rally to score a 3-2 win. (PNA)
