DUMAGUETE CITY - The "MagDegamo" medical, dental and surgical mission of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo will be expanded, enhanced and strengthened with the participation of Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

The possibility of a weekly medical mission is being worked out by Go in municipalities and cities of Negros Oriental to be tied up with the Magdegamo medical mission.

Degamo said Tuesday it is the desire of SAP Go to deliver basic services directly to the doorsteps of people who need them most, especially in the hinterland barangays.

This developed as the construction of the Malasakit Center at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City is nearing completion.

A Malasakit Center is the one-stop shop program of President Rodrigo Duterte to hasten the delivery of medical services and give access to free medicines. Patients will be taught how to approach the PCSO (Philippine Charity and Sweepstakes Office), Philippine Amusement and Games Corporation, and Department of Social Welfare and Development until their bill turns to zero, even for their medicines.

In a recent meeting in Davao, Go reportedly told Degamo to fast-track the completion of the facility.

The governor was informed that the Malasakit Center has an allocation of PHP10 million a month for hospital patients, so that they could be discharged from the hospital without spending a single centavo. (PNA)
