MANILA – San Beda emerged the new champion of the NCAA Shooting Stars Competition after beating Mapua in the final round during the NCAA All-Star festivities at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City on Friday.

The trio of current Red Lion Calvin Oftana, Red Cub Penny Estacio, and San Beda legend Rome Dela Rosa defeated the troika of Cardinal Exe Biteng, Red Robin Clint Escamis, and Mapua legend Yong Garcia in the championship battle with a better performance than its elimination round stint.

San Beda topped the elimination phase after completing the course in just 25 seconds, but the team bettered that with a 23-second finish in the finals, capping that with Oftana making the halfcourt shot in just the team's first try.

Mapua, which finished second in the eliminations after completing the course in 31.2 seconds, struggled in the finals but still completed the course in 41.8 seconds.

Erstwhile champ Perpetual Help, represented by senior player Jielo Razon, legend Gerald Dizon, and junior player Yuki Kawamura, bowed out in the eliminations after only finishing third with 32.1 seconds. (PNA)
