KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Maguindanao Governor Esmael Mangudadatu on Tuesday administered the oath-taking of Vice Mayor Victor Samama as new town mayor of Datu Piang, Maguindanao.

Samama, first elected as vice mayor in the 2010 elections, assumed as Datu Piang’s 19th local chief executive after Mayor Genuine Kamaong died of a lingering illness in Davao City last August 29.

The oath-taking ceremony, witnessed by Samama’s family, relatives and Datu Piang local officials, was held at the office of Mangudadatu in Buluan, Maguindanao.

Samama is Kamaong’s paternal cousin. Mangudadatu has urged Samama and the local officials of Datu Piang to nominate a relative of the late Kamaong as appointed member of the town’s Sangguniang Bayan.

The town of Datu Piang, a major economic and commercial trading center in the province, has some 26,000 inhabitants, based on the 2015 population census. (PNA)
