MANILA -- President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed resigned Department of Transportation (DOTr) Undersecretary Cesar Chavez as member of the board of directors of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

The BCDA is a development corporation that engages in public-private partnerships to push forward vital public infrastructure, such as tollways, airports, seaports, and major real estate developments.

It is one of the key agencies driving the Duterte administration’s “Build Build Build” infrastructure program.

Duterte signed Chavez’s appointment paper on Aug. 31 but it was released to the media only on Thursday.

Chavez will replace Jose Pallarca and will serve as BCDA board member until June 30, 2019.

In November 2017, Chavez resigned following a series of technical glitches that hit the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3). He described his decision to resign as a "simple sense of delicadeza."

Meanwhile, Duterte also appointed Nancy Tanjuatco as member of the Board of Directors of the Land Bank of the Philippines, representing the private sector. Tanjuatco will also serve until June 30, 2019.

He likewise appointed Lorenzo Larion as member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering at the Professional Regulation Commission for a term of three years. (PNA)
