MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded overseas absentee voters (OAV) that the last day to request for transfer of registration records is on September 15.

According to Comelec Resolution No. 10217, those who are looking to transfer registration only have until Saturday to file their application.

The transfer of registration records includes those under the jurisdiction of one Philippine Post (embassy or consulate) to those under the jurisdiction of another Philippine Post.

The poll body said registration records may also be transferred from a particular foreign country to another country but within the jurisdiction of the same embassy or consulate.

It added that registration records may also be transferred from the jurisdiction of one Philippine post to the Philippine municipality/city/district of the voter’s residence.

On the other hand, the poll body said requests may be filed at the Office for Overseas Voting (OFOV) at the poll body’s main office in Intramuros, Manila.

Applications may also be filed at the concerned Philippine Foreign Service Posts.

The poll body has identified several field registration centers for OAV, including the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in Intramuros, at the Philippine Overseas

Employment Administration (POEA), and the offices of both the Balik Manggagawa (BM) and OWWA.

Also considered as local field registration centers are the offices of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in Alabang, Aseana, Robinsons Galleria, and SM Manila.

Latest data show that the number of overseas voters for the 2019 national elections is 1,600,746, compared to 1,376,067 overseas voters who registered for the 2016 polls. (PNA)
