MANILA -- The University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the Universities, Colleges, Schools Athletic Association (UCSAA) have decided to postpone their scheduled games for Saturday due to Typhoon Ompong.

"After due consultation and considering what appears to be a severe weather disturbance, the UAAP deems it best for everyone's interests to cancel the basketball games tomorrow," UAAP president Nilo Ocampo said Friday.

In a separate statement, the UCSAA said that the games scheduled for Saturday will be rescheduled.

Ateneo de Manila and Far Eastern University were to face off in the first game of the UAAP twinbill at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, while Adamson and La Salle were supposed to collide in the scheduled nightcap.

Over at the Don Bosco Technological College Gym in Mandaluyong, Don Bosco was supposed to host the Pasig Catholic College in the main game of the scheduled UCSAA games there, which will also feature a showdown between First City Providential College and College of St. John Paul II.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, on the other hand, had already postponed its scheduled games for Friday also due to the inclement weather. (PNA)
