TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite -- Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla on Friday suspended classes in all levels in both public and private schools in the province as tropical cyclone warning signal No. 1 was hoisted over Cavite due to Typhoon Ompong.

No classes in all levels on Sept. 14 in Cavite province. Let us also include in our prayers our brothers and sisters in the North who will be affected by the typhoon)."

He said Cavite Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CPDRRMO) officials and staff are monitoring the weather condition in the province and the country.

"Ang mababait kong mag-aaral sa Cavite ay tutulungan ang kanilang mga magulang sa mga gawaing bahay lalo na sa paghahanda sa paparating na bagyong Ompong (My obedient students in Cavite, please help your parents in the house chores, especially in preparation for the coming Typhoon Ompong),” he said.

He also urged his constituents to be always alert, informed, and updated on the weather situation as he posted the Cavite PDRRMO, police preparedness operations and the weather advisory and bulletins. "Mag-ingat ang lahat at makinig sa mga darating pang anunsyo. Magandang gabi sa lahat (All of you should stay safe and be updated on latest announcements)," he said.

Meanwhile, the Cavite Traffic Bureau also announced that the number coding in all major thoroughfares is temporarily lifted on Friday due to the inclement weather.

The Cavite PDRRMO has held Emergency Response Preparedness/Pre-Disaster Risk Assessments meetings for “Ompong” last Sept. 12 for the province’s 23 cities and local disaster risk reduction and management officials.

Briefings and demonstrations on safety tips in case of a storm surge were also held in Cavite City’s Barangay 62A for residents in areas along the Manila Bay coastlines, to properly guide them in case of emergency. (PNA)
