GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Police arrested a “newly-identified” drug pusher in a buy-bust operation late Thursday evening in a village in Koronadal City.

Senior Police Officer 1 Erwin Dollente, team leader of the Koronadal City Police Drug Enforcement Unit (CPDEU), said Friday suspect Eric Dela Paz Siason alias “Bordeg,” 30, was nabbed at around 9:40 p.m. along Morrow Street in Barangay Zone-2.

Dollente said the suspect, a welder, sold a sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P500 to a CPDEU agent who posed as a buyer.

“He is considered as a new recruit and was not included on our watch list,” he said in an interview.

Dollente said they were able to track down the suspect’s illegal activities through the help of their civilian assets.

Siason’s arrest showed that the illegal drug trade in the area, which is reportedly backed by local drug groups, continues to attract new personalities, the police official said.

The anti-drug operation, which was joined by personnel from the City Anti-Illegal Drug Abuse Council, was witnessed by barangay officials and local media workers. Dollente said they submitted the recovered pieces of evidence to the regional crime laboratory for proper examination.

Siason, who is detained at the Koronadal police station lockup, will be sued for selling and possession of dangerous drugs. (PNA)
