MANILA -- The Philippine Volcanoes went 2-0 to start their campaign in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series in Hong Kong on Friday.

The Volcanoes stunned South Korea in their first outing before downing Southeast Asian rival Malaysia in the nightcap.

Ryan Howe scored the winning try as the Volcanoes downed South Korea, 12-7.

Howe's game-winner actually capped the Volcanoes' comeback bid after giving up a South Korean try earlier in the second half.

Joe Dawson quickly cancelled Jung Sol's opening try with one of his own while tying the game with a conversion. Howe then broke away from the Korean defense for the winning try even as the Volcanoes' defense held on.

The Volcanoes also needed a comeback trail to down Malaysia, 26-10.

After giving up back-to-back tries three-and-a-half minutes in, the Volcanoes scored 26 unanswered points to pull away from there. (PNA)
