BALER, Aurora -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) on Saturday did not receive any casualty report despite the province having been battered by Typhoon Ompong.

PDRRM Office head Amado Elson Egargue said the efficient and effective implementation of disaster preparedness measures, as well as the cooperation of local officials and residents, proved effective in minimizing the damaging impact of the storm on the lives of people and properties.

“Our provincial government is very thankful to our local and national officials and the general public who are always in full support to the leadership of our acting Governor Rommel Rico T. Angara,” Egargue said.

Meanwhile, he said that the PDRRMC partially provided some 1,800 family food packs to affected residents in Dinalungan, Casiguran and Dilasag, the three towns in the northern part of Aurora - which were placed Friday under tropical cyclone signal warning no. 3.

“The PDRRMC also brought in 1,380 bottled water, 76 dignity kit and 200 containers of water with 20 liters capacity,” Egargue said.

As of press time, he said that distribution of relief items from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the operation centers of 11 barangays in Dilasag town is ongoing.

PDRRMO data showed that some 7,475 families or 27,763 individuals were affected by the typhoon in the province.

Out of the total figure, some 4,674 families or 17,738 individuals are temporarily staying in various evacuation centers while 2,801 families or 10,025 individuals are outside evacuation camps. (PNA)
