LIPA CITY, Batangas – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Calabarzon regional office has temporarily suspended its Civil Registration Services (CRS) on Monday here after it experienced offline connections due to the weather disturbance “Ompong.”

PSA Calabarzon Regional Statistical Services Office Director Charito C. Armonia said the registration service interruptions were attributed to some telecommunications technical glitches that have to be fixed since they were affected by inclement weather since Saturday.

Their PSA CRS outlets based in this city cover applications from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon and repair works are on-going to resume operations.

“Ipinagbibigay alam po sa lahat na hanggang sa kasalukuyan OFFLINE pa din ang PSA CRS Outlet sa Lipa City. Hindi po natapos ang isinagawang pag sasaayos. Naging malaking balakid po ang hindi magandang panahon. Para po mailatag ang kable kailangan po nitong dumaan sa bubong ng building (We are informing the public that our PSA CRS Outlet in Lipa City is still currently OFFLINE. The repair works have not been completed as they were hindered by inclement weather. There is a need to lay the cable passing through the building roof),” Armonia said.

The PSA regional official said strong winds have prevented telecommunications trouble shooters to ascend the roof deck to fix the telco connections.

“Kung patuloy pong magiging maulan, wala pong kasiguraduhan na babalik sa normal na operasyon ang PSA CRS Lipa Outlet ngayong Lunes (Sept. 17). Muli po humihingi kami ng inyong malawak na pang unawa (If the inclement weather persists, we cannot assure to resume normal operations in our PSA CRS Lipa Outlet on Monday (Sept. 17). We request for your kind understanding for this inconvenience),” the PSA official said.

The PSA hub here is located some 300 meters away from the PLDT-Lipa City Terminal Box and the offline service could still not process the civil registry documents starting Monday.

The telecommunications technical glitches have affected the processing of documents and are still pending for release.

These include the Certificates of No Marriage (CENOMAR) applications since Sept. 11 that were supposed to be due for release Sept. 13; and all other applications for birth, marriage, death and CENOMAR filed Sept. 12 to Sept. 14, 2018.

The regional PSA office assured that with good weather permitting, the TelCo (PLDT) personnel would be able to fix the transmission cables to restore internet connections soon so that PSA CRS Lipa outlet could resume normal operations. (Robert Maico/PNA)
