TAGBILARAN CITY  -- Police seized PHP1.3 million worth of shabu from a suspected drug trader here on Monday night.

A report from Camp Francisco Dagohoy said Tuesday that Geoffrey Silao, 33, of Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, barangay Cogon, was arrested in a buy-bust operation.

Silao, a freelance tour guide, was nabbed by joint elements of the Provincial Intelligence Branch-Special Operations Group (PIB-SOG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Tagbilaran City Police Station, and Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG).

The suspect allegedly sold a medium-sized plastic sachet containing a crystalline white substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu”, to an undercover police officer.

Also seized from Silao’s possession were six extra large-sized packs of suspected shabu, PHP1,000 marked money used in the transaction, 13 pieces of PHP1,000 boodle money, and a cellular phone.

Authorities said the drugs seized from the suspect were estimated to weigh about 117 grams.

The seized packs of suspected shabu were submitted to the PNP Crime Laboratory for examination.

The suspect is facing cases of violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.  (PNA)
