CEBU CITY -- The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) seized more than a kilo of shabu (crystal meth) from three suspects in a series of follow-up operations conducted in Barangay San Nicolas, this city on Tuesday night.

First to be apprehended was 40-year-old Adel Villafuerte of Sanciangko St., Barangay Pahina Central, who yielded a kilo of suspected shabu and the PHP10,000 marked money used in the buy-bust operation past 7 p.m..

Villafuerte, a high-value target in Cebu City, reportedly negotiated with an undercover MCPO operative, who was told via text message to proceed to San Nicolas for the deal.

His arrest led to the apprehension of Ronnel Ylanan, 29, of Barangay San Miguel Lorega, and Jasmin Villafuerte, 40, also of Barangay Pahina Central, this city.

Seized from Ylanan were two large packs of shabu and drug paraphernalia, while Jasmin Villafuerte also yielded two large packs containing the same illegal substance. A 17-year-old minor was also arrested along with the suspects.

The total weight of illegal drugs recovered from the suspects was 1,250 grams, which has a Dangerous Drugs Board value of PHP14.75 million.

PO2 Amormio Dichos of the Cebu City Police Office’s (CCPO) Public Information Office said Wednesday the MCPO conducted the operation in coordination with the CCPO.

Dichos said any police station can conduct operations outside their jurisdiction as long as they are properly coordinated with their counterparts in a particular area.

The suspects are now detained at the Jagobiao Police Station in Mandaue since the operation was spearheaded by the MCPO, Dichos said. (PNA)
