SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office here is reminding voters to beat the September 29 registration deadline for the May 13, 2019 national and local elections.

In an interview Tuesday, Comelec Antique Provincial Election Supervisor III Roberto A. Salazar said based on Comelec Resolution No. 10392, the filing of applications for registration for the 2019 mid-term polls will only be until September 29.

“The registration started last July,” he said.

He said Comelec personnel in Antique held off-site satellite registration on the islands of Caluya town to assist voters who have yet to register.

“There are 17,979 voters who have registered from July 2 to September 15,” he said.

The satellite and on-site registrations from July 2 to September 15 gathered some 17, 979 registration applicants.

Antique has 339,092 registered voters during the October 23 synchronized barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) polls.

The Comelec officer said most of the 17,979 registered voters are transferees from other provinces. Others are young people who are now eligible to vote, Salazar added.

Meanwhile, Salazar said they are still waiting for the Comelec en banc calendar of activities after the House of Representatives has requested for the rescheduling of the October 1-5 filing of certificates of candidacy to October 11-17. (PNA)
