CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga -- At least 368 construction workers received some PHP2.26 million in monetary claims through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The SEnA is an inexpensive mediation program of the DOLE that aims to speedily address labor disputes between the work force and management.

DOLE Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita on Wednesday said the intervention emanated from a request for assistance (RFA) by the workers.

“An RFA was lobbied to the DOLE Clark Satellite Office regarding the unpaid wages of construction workers who have been working for some time in an on-going construction site within the confides of the Clark Freeport Zone,” Campita said.

She noted that the workers were promptly assisted because of the DOLE’s presence at the One Stop Shop Center for OFWs (OSSCO) at the Clark Polytechnic.

“Thanks to the proximity of our Clark Satellite Office, the concerned workers need not travel far, endure long traffic, and spend for transportation just to avail our services at the regional or Pampanga Field Office. We were able to intervene and address the matter the soonest,” she said.

Campita lauded the cooperation of both parties in allowing the DOLE’s SEnA to provide a win-win solution to their labor issues.

“We are grateful for the openness and eagerness of both parties to have their issues settled peacefully through the aid of our Single Entry Approach program. Through our intervention, we were able to facilitate an amicable settlement and prevent this particular labor issue from materializing to a full blown labor case, saving both parties from going through huge litigation expenses,” she added.
