MANILA -- In the first-ever world boxing title fight that will take place in a mixed martial arts card, a very important spectator will be expected.

Reigning International Boxing Federation junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas will make a special appearance at One: Kingdom of Heroes at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, which will be headlined by the World Boxing Council super flyweight title bout between title holder Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand and challenger Iran Diaz of Mexico.

"One Championship will hold its first boxing bout on Saturday. I am ready for an amazing night of action. I can’t wait to be there and witness some fireworks," Ancajas said.

This is not actually the first time Ancajas will attend an MMA event as he also graced the “One: Heroes of Honor” at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay last April.

"It's a whole different experience seeing it live. I really had a delightful time. The production value is truly world-class," the Filipino champion boxer said, relaying his experience.
His appearance will come in an interesting situation.

Ancajas, who last week settled for a draw with Alejandro Santiago to retain his IBF belt, is being groomed to have his 115-pound title unified with that of either Sor Rungvisai or reigning World Boxing Association champ Khalid Yafai.

Ancajas' scheduled appearance could be a hint that everything will lean to a WBC-IBF 115-pound unification battle. (PNA)
