MANILA -- Manila and Quezon City took close wins on Thursday at the San Andres Sports Complex for a share of the top spot in the Metro League Open Northern Division.

Behind Joseph Yeo, Manila turned back Pateros, 86-83, while Cyrus Tabi scored the game-winning layup with 0.7 second left to give Quezon City an 84-82 win against San Juan.

Yeo led Manila with 15 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block against Pateros, while Tabi's go-ahead basket capped a 26-point explosion for him.

With wins against Marikina and Las Pinas in their respective tournament openers, both Manila and Quezon City are now at 2-0 in the North, momentarily breaking out of a tie with idle Valenzuela.

In the other game, Paranaque rallied from a late eight-point deficit to beat Las Pinas, 101-96.

Raffy Gusi fired 29 markers alongside six boards and six dimes for the Green Berets, who outscored the Home Defenders, 34-21, in the fourth quarter to overturn the outcome.

Jeffrey Vito Cruz's 30-point explosion went down the drain as Las Pinas fell to tie with San Juan in last place in the Southern Divison at 0-2.

Action shifts back to the Caloocan Sports Complex for a quadruple-header on Saturday.

Caloocan will host Manila in the first game at 10 a.m., while Paranaque takes on San Juan in the second game at 12 p.m.

Pateros and Las Pinas will collide at 1:30 p.m., while Valenzuela returns to action in the main game at 3 p.m. against fellow unbeaten side Taguig.
