Phoenix mauls NLEX, 123-97

MANILA -- Phoenix Fuel Masters rode on a hot start led by Eugene Phelps to depose NLEX Road Warriors, 123-97, in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City on Wednesday night.

Phelps erupted for 51 points on 21-of-31 shooting as he spearheaded the Fuel Masters' first half explosion that ended with them ahead of the Road Warriors, 71-33, at the end of the half.

Phelps had a rare 50-20 game as he too grabbed 20 rebounds on top of two assists and three blocks as Phoenix moved up to 6-2 in the standings.

Calvin Abueva added 17 points, seven rebounds, and two assists off the bench.

Aaron Fuller made 38 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks for NLEX, which fell to a tie with sister squad TNT KaTropa at 4-4. (PNA)
