LEGAZPI CITY -- Albay Rep. Joey Salceda filed on Friday his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Election’s (Comelec) provincial office here.

Salceda, who is bidding for his second term as representative of the 2nd District of Albay, will run under the banner of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Lawyer Romeo Serrano, Comelec assistant regional director and concurrent Albay election supervisor, reviewed the solon’s COC documents and found them to be in proper order.

After going through all the Comelec procedures and the submission of all pertinent requirements, Serrano said he will bring the COCs filed by all candidates personally to the Comelec law department in Manila for further processing.

In a phone interview, Serrano, said that “as soon as our law department completes its review, it will then serve a notice to all the filers that their candidacy had been either approved or disapproved.”

Salceda, in a press statement, said, “I am renewing my job order application to the people of the 2nd District of Albay as there are lots of pending concerns that need to be addressed and done.”

He said he would push further the completion of the Bicol International Airport in Daraga, Albay, which has been stalled for nearly a decade and the revival of the Philippine National Railways under the Southern Luzon Railway Project.

Salceda further said that aside from significant legislative measures that would bolster the province’s economy and infrastructure, he would also push for the immediate creation of a Department of Disaster and Resiliency.

Earlier, Galma Arcilla a native of Malinao, Albay, filed his COC for the gubernatorial post of the province.
Arcilla claims to be a lieutenant general and the Director General of Transnational Anti-Organized Crime and DG International Police Commission Intelligence Group (IPCIG).

He will challenge incumbent Governor Al Francis Bichara of the Nationalista Party. (PNA)
