IMUS CITY, Cavite – The ‘Ospital ng Imus’ (ONI), the city’s first public hospital that opened barely a week ago, has had its first successful childbirth, a local official announced Friday.
A baby girl, weighing 1.95 kg., was born to Rachel Barcelon and John Ray Fajardo at 9:09 a.m. on October 18.
She was delivered for free because “this is ONI’s first week of operation and in time for Mayor Emmanuel L. Maliksi’s birth month,” city information and concurrent tourism chief Edgardo Saquilayan said.
Rachel, who is from Malagasang 1-D village, was assisted by three doctors and medical staff in delivering her second child.
The PHP300-million, three-storey ONI, located along Pedro Reyes St., Malagasang I-G village, formally opened to the public last October 12. The Level 1 hospital, which sits on a 4,000-square-meter lot donated by 3rd District Rep. Alex L. Advincula, has 22 wards, 19 private rooms with 130 beds, five doctor rooms, and medical service and personnel rooms.
It offers major and minor surgeries, as well as ancillary services, such as laboratory, X-ray, and ultrasound.
The establishment of ONI addresses the absence of a government hospital in the city and aims to give residents a more responsive health system, officials said. (PNA)
