BAGUIO CITY — The city is ready for the observance of “Undas” or All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on Nov. 1 and 2, with advisories on traffic rerouting and security preparations.

“With respect to the city’s observance this year of All Saints’ Day, everything has already been set," Mayor Mauricio Domogan said in a late afternoon press briefing on Wednesday.

Domogan said the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) has released copies of the re-routing plan to the public and signages have been posted at cemeteries to guide those with cars.

“No vehicles shall be allowed to enter there (the cemetery), except those used for emergency, fire, and police vehicles”, the mayor warned.

He also said that no liquor shall be allowed in the cemetery, as well as flower vendors.

Harrison Road, extending to the Ganza parking lot, has been designated for flower and candle vendors.

Domogan said he approved the use for three days of the extended portion behind Dimalanta near the rice section of the public market for flower vendors, so buyers have an option other than going to Harrison Road.

Traffic advisory

Based on the traffic advisory released by the city police office, from 5 a.m. of Nov. 1 until the early evening of Nov. 2, parking will be prohibited inside the cemetery, Buhagan Road junction, San Luis Junction, Queen of Apostles Road, and from Station 1 to the junction of San Carlos Heights.

All private vehicles, except trucks and buses, can pass through Quirino Highway.

Taxicabs ferrying passengers to the Baguio Cemetery are required to unload their passengers at the back of Station 1 and shall take the San Luis/San Roque Road as exit route.

Jeepneys going to Quirino Highway returning to the central business district shall turn right to Dominican Road.

Passengers coming from the central business district to Baguio Cemetery shall be unloaded along the junction of 1st Road of San Carlos Heights.

Public utility jeepneys taking Asin Road towards the central business district shall take San Roque Road.

PUJs taking Ferguson Road towards the central business district shall take Sepic Road to Buhagan Road towards their terminal.

Motorists coming from the direction of La Union may take the Circumferential Road or Lamtang/Longlong Road towards central business district or La Trinidad, Benguet.

Trucks and buses going to Bauang La Union are advised to take Marcos Highway and exit at the Irisan-Circumferential Road from 5 a.m. to 12 midnight of Nov. 1.

For those entering the city, they are advised to take the Marcos Highway or Lamtang- Tam-awan Road as diversion routes.

“Only emergency vehicles, water delivery, ambulance, and police vehicles are allowed inside the Baguio Cemetery on a need basis,” the advisory read.

“I hope that we all heed the traffic advisory for a smooth and orderly observance of this time when we remember our dearly departed,” Domogan said. (Merriam del Rosario/ PNA)
