Palace mourns death of Rico J. Puno

MANILA -- Malacañang has joined the music industry in mourning the passing of Original Pilipino Music (OPM) legend Rico J. Puno.

“We express our condolences to the legend that is Rico J. Puno. He has contributed a lot to the music industry,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a Palace media briefing on Tuesday.

“Personally, I feel sad. We had a duet four years ago in my show. He’s a personal friend,” he added.

According to media reports, Puno died on Tuesday morning due to heart failure. He was 65.

Puno started his music career in the 1970s. Some of his popular songs include “May Bukas Pa,” “Macho Gwapito,” “Magkasuyo Buong Gabi,” and “Lupa.”

He also ventured into acting and politics. He was an incumbent councilor in Makati City. (PNA)
