'Rosita'-affected families now 36.6K: NDRRMC

MANILA -- Families affected by Typhoon Rosita have now climbed to 36,601, equivalent to 136,647 persons from 1,140 barangays in the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas and the Cordillera regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its 6 p.m. update on Thursday.

The report, which was signed by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, said 12,489 families or 49,401 persons are being aided inside 496 evacuation centers.

Casualties as of this time remains at two injured and one missing in Calabarzon and the Cordillera regions.

Houses damaged by "Rosita" were placed at 7,308, with 6,494 partially damaged and 814 destroyed in the five regions.

The NDRRMC also reported that a total of 94 road sections and nine bridges were affected in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera. Of these, 67 road sections and seven bridges remain impassable. (PNA)
