MANILA-- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday said no Filipino was among the casualties after days of heavy rain and flooding in Italy.

Ambassador to Italy Domingo Nolasco informed the DFA central office that no Filipino casualty has so far been reported.

Meanwhile, Nolasco advised the estimated 168,000 Filipinos in Italy to monitor the movement of the storm and heed the warnings of local officials.

In a statement sent through Assistant Secretary Elmer Cato, the agency extended sympathies to the families of the 29 people killed in Italy’s worst storms and flooding in decades.

The Philippine embassy in Rome, the Consulate General in Milan, and the Honorary Consulate in Venice remain on full alert and are in touch with Filipino community leaders who are monitoring the situation in Abruzzo, Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, and Trentino Alto Adige.(PNA)
