Navy igloo catches fire in Cavite Naval Base

MANILA -- The Philippine Navy (PN) said one of its igloos in the Naval Ordnance Depot at the Naval Base in Cavite caught fire early Friday.

Navy spokesperson Commander Jonathan Zata said the blaze happened at about 5:30 a.m.

No one was reported hurt during the incident, Zata said.

"The PN Incident Commander has already reported that the fire (was) already contained at around 0745H (7:45 a.m.) The igloo contains ammunition from small-caliber firearms, including those for M-203 with smoke grenades," he added.

Firefighters from the PN, Philippine Air Force (PAF) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) put out the flames in the area at about 7:53 a.m.

"Investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the incident," Zata said. (PNA)
