MANILA -- Local absentee voters will have three days to cast their votes for the mid-term elections starting April 29 next year.
Based on Comelec Resolution No. 10443, the Local Absentee Voting (LAV) period, will be from April 29, 30 and May 1, 2019 for government officials and personnel, members of the military and the police, and media practitioners who are expected to be on duty on election day, May 13, 2019.
“Local absentee voters shall vote on any day from April 29, 30, and May 1 from 8 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon,” the poll body said.
The said voters are allowed to vote ahead of the rest of the country for the positions of senators and party-list organizations.
For those who would like to avail of the LAV, they need to fill up application forms and must be filed not later than Mar. 11, 2019.
The heads of offices/supervisors/commanders or officers next-in-rank shall designate, not later than Apr. 9, 2019, the place of voting for government officials and employees as well as military and police personnel.
For media practitioners, the poll body said they will vote at the local poll office where they filed their LAV applications. For those in Metro Manila they must cast their votes in the Office of the Regional Election Director (ORED) - National Capital Region (NCR).
As for those outside NCR, they can cast their votes in the Office of the City Election Officer (OCEO) for those in independent cities; or in the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor (OPES) for those in other areas outside Metro Manila.
In addition for media practitioners, they are also required to submit certifications signed by their respective heads of media entities, attesting that they are bona fide members of the media.
The counting of LAV ballots will be done in the afternoon of election day. (PNA)
