MANILA -- Former special assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go has urged the public to fully support the police so they could stop the propagation of crimes in the country.

“Kung patuloy na pasasamain ang imahe ng mga pulis, hindi magtatagumpay ang gobyerno sa pagsugpo ng kriminalidad at mga salot sya lipunan (If we continue to create a bad image for the police, the government will not succeed in fighting crimes and societal problems),” Go said in an interview after delivering his speech at the second Regional Congress of the Philippine Councilors League in Quezon City.

He was pertaining to recent discussions on the potential negative effects of the “Ang Probinsiyano” teleserye on the image of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for its “inaccurate portrayal of the police force.”

He said the PNP is serious in improving its image through its continuous internal cleansing, adding that many policemen involved in illegal drug trade have already been removed from position. (PNA)
